Brown Snake
What kind of snake is brown on its top, but completely orange on its underside?
I was in my yard today and a pretty big snake that looked like that came out of its hole a few feet from me.
We just stared at each other.
I started to back away and it sat there and then went into its hole..
What kind of snake is this??
The red-bellied snake is like that but fairly small. Worm snakes are even smaller. Those all have smooth scales. A larger snake with keeled scales and the colors you describe is the red-bellied water snake.
